1.0 package (16 oz) Phyllo dough
1.0 lb Walnuts
1.0 tsp Cinnamon
0.5 cup Sugar
1.0 cup Butter
1.0 cup Water
1.0 cup Sugar
0.5 cup Honey
1.0 tbsp Lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine chopped nuts, cinnamon, and sugar in a bowl.
- Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter.
- Sprinkle 1/3 of nut mixture over phyllo.
- Layer 4 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
- Repeat nut mixture and phyllo layers twice more, ending with a top layer of 8 phyllo sheets.
- Cut into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake for 50 minutes until golden and crisp.
- While baking, make syrup by boiling water, sugar, honey, and lemon juice for 20 minutes.
- Pour hot syrup over hot baklava and let cool completely before serving.
